This 4 part video series introduces participants to the Government of Canada's (GC) plan to migrate to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). It explores the threat posed to cryptography by quantum computing, the new PQC standards, transitioning to PQC, and the GC’s migration plan. Upon completion of the video, participants will have a basic understanding of the threat posed by quantum computing, the actions they should be taking to protect their departments, and where to find more guidance.

Duration

The video is broken into 4 parts. The total amount of time required to complete the video is approximately 30 minutes.

Target audience

The target audience for this video is Senior IT Executives (CIO), IT Managers, IT Administrators, Application Developers, and IT Policy Makers across all departments of the GC. The content will be available and applicable to the wider public service, but the focus will be to raise awareness among IT professionals.

Course objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • recognize the threat posed by quantum computing
  • recognize that there is a solution in development
  • recall that each organization within the GC must participate in the response to the quantum threat including assigning resources (both human and financial) to the migration plan
  • recall where to find additional information
  • prepare to act according to Cyber Centre guidance
